Women’s Eights Head of the River Race 2025
WOMEN'S EIGHTS HEAD OF THE RIVER RACE
Overlooked, perhaps, by the more famous University Boat Race, these rowing races are now major international participation events.
Saturday 8 March 2025 - first crew start at Mortlake at 11:00
The Women’s Head of the River (founded in 1927 but really taking off in the late 1970s) is a major participation event with over 3000 rowers in 2024.
The race is rowed over the Thames Championship course from Mortlake to the finish at Putney Bridge
The competition lasts for about two hours. If you’re waiting at the finish line the first boat should make its way there in about 25 minutes.
