Roehampton Community Shed

Posted on Mar 22, 2022

The ROEHAMPTON COMMUNITY SHED can be found at 5 Portswood Place, SW15 4ED   The Shed was established in 2016 as part of AgeUK Wandsworth, and operates with the support of the Borough.

Members meet on Wednesdays from 10.30am to 3.00 pm to use the workshop facilities where they make, repair and upcycle things, mainly using recycled wood. It is a non-for-profit project giving priority to members' enjoyment, well-being and skills development.

Our roomy and well equipped workshop, which we adapted and recycled from a redundant retail unit, also incorporates toilets, kitchen, meeting/socialising area and IT facilities. We also have a smaller workshop for noisy or messy work.

In addition to individual and joint projects in the workshop the Shed also responds to requests from the local community where it can. To date we have been able to support projects with: Queen Marys Hospital Physiotherapy Department, Oasis Charity, Lennox Estate Clubhouse, Roehampton Methodist Church, Alton West Regeneration Team and SW15Hedgehog Group. We also manage the flower beds and planters in Portswood Place.

In 2022 we plan to expand our activities to incorporate a repair shop for Roehampton residents.
