Putney Society Meeting - The Ultra-Low Emission Zone extension. At 7:30 pm on 28th October in the Community Church, Werter Road, Putney, SW15 2LL

Event Date: Oct 28, 2019

The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is planned to be extended to cover parts of Putney in 2021.

In April 2019, the Mayor of London introduced the Central London ULEZ which covers the same area as the exisiting Congestion Charge    It is designed to improve air quality in the Zone by imposing an extra charge of £12.50 per day on the most polluting cars.  Trucks in breach of the emission standards pay even more.    Initial results show that the measure has resulted the number of "non-compliant" vehicles entering the ULEZ to fall by 35%.

If re-elected, the Mayor plans to expand the borders of the London ULEZ to the South and North Circular Roads and so much of Putney will be included.

The Putney Society meeting will have a speaker from TfL to explain their experiences to date with the operation and effect of the Central London ULEZ and plans for the expansion of the Zone.

We also hope to have a speaker from Wandsworth Borough Council talking about the steps they are taking to prepare for the expansion in conjuction with TfL.

Finally we will hear from an expert in air quality explaining the health effects of breathing toxic air.

All are welcome - please come and find out how the ULEZ will affect you if your vehicle in non-compliant and also to learn how it will contribute to improving the local air quality.
