Poor Air Quality in Putney - A continuing problem despite improvement

Posted on Jun 21, 2018

In March 2018 the Society carried out a "citizen science" project to measure the levels of NO2 in Putney High Street and at other locations in central Putney.

A similar survey had taken place in 2016 and the repeat survey allowed levels to be compared and in particular to show the impact of the introduction of hybrid buses.  The results were also compared to those of the Council's monitoring sites.

The 2018 results, which broadly mirror the Council figures, show that there has been a welcome overall reduction in NO2 levels, but that in several locations they are still significantly above the EU "safe" figure.
