Internet Shopping - the Click & Collect options in Putney

Posted on Jun 20, 2017

Internet shopping is convenient; but delivery can be a problem.  Someone has to be there to receive the parcel and each drop requires a delivery van on the streets.  But there is an alternative which may be easier and reduce traffic.    Putney's network of collection points for internet shoppers is growing quickly and you may not know of all the options.

This is a quick guide to help you make the most of available collection points for smaller portable items.  (Be aware that is some cases there may be a small addtional charge for parcel collection, but usually this is absorbed by the internet retailer).

Options are:

1)   Buy from an internet shop which offers collection from its physical branch in Putney.

Examples are John Lewis (from Waitrose), Marks & Spencer, Rymans, Dyas, Argos & Clarks Shoes.   You usually receive a text message or email telling you the item is ready for collection and for clothes and shoes there is the additional benefit of being able to check the fit - saving the tiresome need for you to return the item when this is not perfect!

You can also use Argos to receive some eBay purchases.

2)   Buy from an internet retailer whose distributor has established a network of parcel pick-up points.

i   Pass My Parcel     At Putney Express, 208 Putney Bridge Road SW15 2NA; Ashburton Supermarket, 405-407 Tildesley Road SW15 3BD.

ii   Amazon Lockers   c/o Banjo at The Cooperative, 73-75 Upper Richmond Road SW15 2SR (near East Putney station);  c/o Samson at Barclays Bank, 60 Putney High Street, SW15 1SF.

iii   Click & Collect Plus   At Browns Newsagents, 11 Charlwood Raod SW15 1PJ; Hardings News, 329 Tildesley Road, SW15 2BB; McColls, 373 Upper Richmond Raod SW15 5QJ; Esso, 134 West Hill, SW15 2UE; Putney Bridge Food & Wine, 7 Putney Bridge Approach SW6 3JD; Gerhold, 295 Upper Richmond Road, SW15 6SP; Sainsbury's, 2-6 Werter Raod, SW15 2LJ.

iv   Royal Mail Local Collect   At the Post Offices, 197 Upper Richmond Road SW15 2SG & 355 Upper Richmond Road, SW15 5QJ.

v    DPD  At Putney News, 7 Keswick Broadway SW15 2RB.

3)   Establish your own second address for parcel delivery.

Mail Boxes Etc at 210 Upper Richmond Road offer this service in Putney.  Other companies offer the service elsewhere e.g. Doodle in Richmond.

So if you are internet shopping please consider using these collections points - you could save time and reduce the number of vans (usually diesel) on local roads.
